Date night

Tank: Loft
Skirt: Delias
Sandals: DSW
Flower: Gap

The boss was on vacation last week. That meant extra hours & extra responsibility for me.  Leaving me with little creativity or energy for cute outfits or blogging.  Saturday night was a different story.  Hubs & I had an overdue night out to ourselves & this is what KB helped me pick out!  We went out to dinner & to the movies.  We had a great time.

I originally bought this skirt to wear to some of my pre-wedding functions 6 years ago, and it's been hiding in the back of my closet ever since.  I found it a couple weeks ago & wasn't ready to get rid of it because of the happy memories.  So I figured I'd better wear it if I was going to keep it.  I originally tucked the tank & belted the skirt, but I opted for comfort & I'm happy with the result.  Fun night & fun outfit = happy girl :)  It feels so beachy & I really liked it paired with the simple tank.

Hopefully, I'll be a better blogger this week... since I'll be mia again next week for vacation!!!

Maxi - take 2

Cardigan: Loft
Tank: Gap
Maxi: Ross
Sandals: Clarks (DSW)
Necklace: Wal-Mart

The work air conditioner works a little too well, so I have to dress like it's winter even when it's 90 degrees outside.  That's why I love cardigans sooo much.  My maxi dress is very low cut, but I want to wear it every day, so I have to be creative.  The textured tank works perfect.  I can't believe that I waited so long to own a maxi.  Now I want more!!!

I really love all the neutrals.  I've always been a fan of gray, but I really like this mix of neutrals.

I finally got my hair trimmed.  I'm such a slacker about haircuts.  It's like I'm always a little afraid that I'll get a bad cut.  I think I was scarred from high school when I let someone new cut my hair & it was a disaster!!!!!!  So I always wait way too long between cuts, then I have major split ends & I end up losing a couple inches.  But this time was different, I had definitely waited too long, but I told her my fears & the results were awesome.  When she was finished, my hair seemed to look longer (and the split ends are gone)!

Mellow Yellow

Cardigan: Target
Top: Ross
Jeans: AE
Sandals: Madden Girl (DSW)

This past Saturday was definitely a girly day!  KB had outgrown all of her swimsuits and vacation is only 2 weeks away, so we just had to go shopping! (She ended up with 4!)  My mom joined us on our shopping adventure.  Mom's favorite store is Ross.  She has at least 2 that are within 20 minutes of her house that she checks out on a weekly basis, but since she's been here the past couple weeks, I'm sure she was having withdrawals!  So going to Ross was definitely on our shopping agenda (and we ended up going to 2!)

About half way through our shopping excursion, I got a phone call from work.  But it was not a problem!  One of our customers, Pilot Truckstops, had 4 tickets to Saturday night's CMA Festival!!!! and no one else could go!!!!  We were in!!!  My sister in law met us & then away we went on to Nashville to rock out to some country music.  The tickets were AWESOME!  We were in a suite so close to the stage, had a parking pass, food & drinks were provided, and the show was great & the people were wonderful!   I know it sounds corny, but my favorite part was when American Idol Scottie came out and sang with Josh Turner!  He did great, and OMG I'm in love with Josh Turner now too!  I'm not necessarily a huge country music fan, but I grew up listening to it & it's so popular here since I'm less than 2 hours from Nashville.  We had an awesome day and night!  I left the house at 9am & didn't get back until around 2am!  Great day, just a little late posting about it!

Dress: Ross
Leggings: Catos
Sandals: Madden Girl (DSW)
Necklace: from Mom
Belt: delia's (came with a skirt)

I bought this dress a couple weeks ago (and I love it) and it just so happened to be have lace!  Last Tuesday I was all dressed up in my lace, all excited about the EBEW linkup, since I'd missed out on the Maxi & Polka Dots!  Then when I viewed my google reader, I was wondering if everyone was lacking lace in their closet.  I think noticed that the linkup was for NEXT Tuesday!  So here I am today, in my week old outfit, blogging about my lace :)  [Please excuse the hair, it was particularly hot last week & I wore it up most of the day.] Click here to see my original styling of the dress, with limited resources because I was out of town.  I can see that this dress is definitely going to be a summer staple in my closet.  Probably won't wear it with the leggings again until the temperatures go down around here though!  I can't wait to see everyone's lace!!!

It's not easy being green

Top: Target (i think!)
Jeans: AE
Sandals: R2 (DSW)
Necklace: JCPenney

I was definately feeling like Kermit the other day!  Green is definately one of my favorite colors, probably 2nd to pink.  I've had this top for a couple years now.  It has these cute little buttons the back.  I tried to take a picture of them, but taking pictures of my backside was NOT the best idea!

Over the weekend, my Dad & hubbys went fishing & caught a ton!  So last night my mom was back in town & she cooked us dinner.  I'm a big fan of anyone who wants to cook for me.  Don't get me wrong, I love to cook, but I don't exactly enjoy it after working all day.  The food was really good, the fish was fresh & the company was even better!  Maybe since Dad has retired we'll have more opportunites like last night.  (Plus Hubby will have a fishing partner!!!)

just another routine Sunday

Tank: Ann Taylor
Shorts: JCPenneys
Sandals: DSW
Sunglasses: Calvin Klein
Bracelet: from Mom

I have this huge shorts collection that I very seldom get to wear.  I work every other Saturday, leaving on Sunday's as my only day for shorts (not counting vacation).  And the shorts have to battle the skirts & sundresses for attention.  These cuffed dress shorts won out today.  They were the basis for my grocery shopping, clothes washing, house cleaning, dinner cooking Sunday outfit!  I've had these particular shorts for a couple summers now, but I love the cuff & pleated details.  They are a little shorter than I remember, but I still like sporting them.  My favorite memory in these shorts was a girls night to see the 1st Sex & the City movie.  I wore them with a silk cami, long necklaces, & pointy toed black patten kitten heels.  Very Sex & the City :)

Every since I saw these posts, I knew I had to try it out!  So after finally going to the grocery, I got all the ingredients.  The roasted potato salad wasn't nearly as pretty as Jessica's... I actually started out grilling the veggies & burnt some of them, but I was able to salvage most of it & finish cooking them in the oven.  The Salmon turned out fantastic.  I sauce called for a lot of ingredients that I don't normally like, but I tried it anyways.  We ate an early dinner tonight, but it was perfect because hubby missed lunch while out fishing with my Dad.

i Love short work weeks

Tank: Loft
Pants: Gap
Sandals: DSW
Necklace: JCPenney's

Even though I have to work Saturday, short work weeks are the best.  This week has flown by but it's definitely been a busy one... This was actually Wednesday's outfit.  I feel so off.  My last 3 posts weren't my current outfits.  Hopefully I'll catch up soon.

More new clothes.  I LOVE to shop, but I try to restrain myself.  Over the weekend, I definitely took advantage of being somewhere that I could pretty much shop at any my favorite shops (in person instead of the usual online).  I naturally gravitated to these pants as soon as I walked in the door.  The picture doesn't do them justice (by the color or with all the wrinkles).  They are actually much more pale with a gray/green tint.  And they were on sale.  When I tried them on, I was in love.  They are super soft, the perfect length, they hug all the right places, and it's a new color for my closet.  I can't wait to do a neutral outfit with them!

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

my new Maxi!

Dress: Ross
Cardigan: Target
Belt: Delia's
Sandals: Madden Girl (DSW)
Bracelet: Mom's handout!
Pin: Avon

I finally bought a Maxi dress!  And I found it at Ross for only $10!  I've been nervous about buying a maxi, because I always thought it'd look to short.  I'd really like it to be touching the ground, but it's sooooo comfy that I really don't care!  The dress is low cut in the front so for work, I decided to button up my cardigan.

When I was Mom's this past weekend, I was digging through her jewelry box.  Then she came out & pulled open the top dresser drawer that was full of jewelry.  She has TONS of bracelets, necklaces, watches, chunky rings, etc.  It's been about 6 years since I've lived at home & could dig through her jewelry.  I was a little blown away from her collection!  It was like playing dress up all weekend... Then she sent a few of her cast offs home with me!

This was actually Tuesday's outfit, just a little behind on posting.  I finally read Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen.  I've had it laying around for a couple weeks.  The genre was a little different than I normally read, but I was really impressed.  This summary really sums my thoughts up perfectly:
"Beautifully written, Water for Elephants is illuminated by a wonderful sense of time and place. It tells a story of a love between two people that overcomes incredible odds in a world in which even love is a luxury that few can afford."
Hope the movie portrays the love and endearment as the book!
