Happy long weekend!

Dress: Ross
Belt: Delias
Sandals: Clarks
Jewelry: Moms

This weekend we went to Memphis for my Dad's surprise Retirement Party!  It's a 5 hour drive and the party we had to be there at 11am.  We decided to drive within an hour and get a hotel.  I found what looked to be an ok but cheap hotel... well it was probably the most disgusting hotel I've ever stayed in.  It smelled like dirty old man & it even had a night club attached.  I'm officially not allowed to book hotels ever again!  I set the alarm for 7am, and we were out of there in 15 minutes... couldn't get to the shower at Mom's fast enough!  At least it came with a funny story...

Dad's party was a complete success.  I'm so proud of him.  37 years with the same company including a transfer because of a plant closing.  I've been working for my company 6 years now and they feel like they've flown by... I guess that's how he looks at things.  He's really planned for retirement.  I hope he loves all his free time, just hope he doesn't drive Mom crazy ;)

The rest of the weekend was filled with shopping.  I told KB her birthday present was shopping at Granna's.  So she got 4 new dresses & a pair of sandals.  I had to take pictures of one of her new dresses.  As bad as this sounds KB tried on the dress I'm wearing first!  It's really hard to come to terms with wearing the same clothes as your teenager.  I really love the dress so I can't be too depressed about it!

Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend like me!  Today was spent by the pool with great friends and family.  Good times!

Sleepy head

Tee: Gap
Skirt & Sandals: Target
Belt: Thrifted

Last week, Hubby & I found our sleep number.  I'm a 30 & he's a 35.  Yesterday, our new mattress arrived in a box.  Luckily, it came with 2 husky delivery guys that had it fully assembled in 15 minutes.  Hubby was majorly impressed.  I couldn't wait to get home & go to bed!  Apparently, we were too giddy about getting good nights sleep, that we couldn't fall asleep!  Finally the good sleep came & it was wonderful.  My back still isn't wonderful, but I'm hoping after a few nights it will be!

I love how my sandals are perfectly lined up in the 3rd picture :)

Long lost sandals

Dress: Ross
Cardigan: Loft
Sandals: Clarks (DSW)
Belt: Delias
Necklace: gift from MIL

I am finally over the majority of my allergies/sinus junk & my legs are shaved... If you hadn't noticed but my favorite color combo is pink & bright green.  You can't get much girlier than that.  I love it!  (To me, it's a perfect combo to break my blogging absence and my uncreative outfits!)  I had extra time this morning before my carpool was here, so I took my photos before my hair fell flat and give me another reason to not post!

I keep the majority of my shoes in original boxes in the top of my closet.  I used to keep them loose in the bottom of my closet, but I'd forget about a great pair of shoes that I loved.  The last straw was a favorite pair of shoes were ruined by another pair of heels.  From then on, I started labeling & keeping them in boxes.  (I had always had a hard time throwing away the pretty shoe boxes anyways.  So now I keep them!)  I try to keep my summer/winter shoes cycled so I can get to the ones I want easily, but I haven't done that this year.  This morning, I tried the outfit with my oxfords, but it wasn't working... and I found these great sandals (hidden by the winter shoes) & they were so happy to be found!  They are both brown & black, and can be worn with everything... starting today!

Happy Birthday KB

Happy 14th Birthday to my favorite crazy, silly, goofy, artistic, imaginative, loud, obnoxious, spirited, beautiful KB!  You've made my life richer just by being a part of it.  I don't think I could have given birth to a daughter & she be as much like me as you :)

Hopefully, I'll be back to normal posting this week.... The warm weather has made from some unimaginative outfits.

My monkey graduated Kindergarten

This is my middle niece (my brother has 3 girls!!!!).  I've always called her my little monkey.  Thursday night she graduated from Kindergarten.  I'm so proud.  We even got there early to make sure we were sitting on the front row to cheer her on.  Before the program I took her around the gym for a little one on one Aunt Randa time.  I even snuck her some of my chewy chocolate granola bar & let her wipe her hands on my jeans (because Mom didn't want her to get her shirt dirty)!

We made faces during the whole program.  I love this smile.  She usually gets annoyed with pictures (she gets it from her Dad).  She'll either hide, get made, or just show her teeth which ends up looking like a frown.  But this is her real smile.

Check out her awesome sparkly sandals.  I think the shoe gene has been passed on to the next generation!

Congratulations Jaden & the future Class of 2023!

100 posts & I won my 1st givaway!

Cardigan: Liz Claiborne
Shirt: Target
Jeans: AE
Oxfords: DSW

The cardigan is my newest purchase.  When Sherry & I went on our date, we had some time to kill between dinner & the movie.  What better way to fill that time than shopping?  Our local mall seriously consists of about 4 stores, but I still like to browse.  I found this cardigan at JCPenney's (and it was on clearence!)  It's a little boxy & I've had trouble styling it.  Before I bought it, I tried it on over a dress & loved the look, but the weather has been too cool or I didn't shave my legs... excuses, excuses, I know!  Well I ended up with this & I like it.

I'm not sure what is up with the cool weather or my allergies, but they've caused me to feel like crap since Sunday.  Hopefully I'm on the uphill side of things!  My Mom came in town today for a couple days, so I went and visited with my family tonight.  I just got home & hubby was super sweet to dvr Idol...  I wasn't upset that I missed it, but I'm impressed after I listening to them!  I just love Haley & she did great tonight!

I'd like to thank Joanna at A Worn Path for my new book!  I completely overlooked that I had won on her post, but was super excited to get The Bake-Off in the mail today :)  Check out her next giveway!

Catching up

Tank & Cardigan: Loft
Jeans: AE
Sandals: DSW
Sunglasses: Old Navy

Due to Blogger issues, I'm just now posting Thursday's outfit.  This is basically a standard Miranda outfit.  Pink, skinny jeans & sandals.  I could wear this everyday.

Really I can't blame my late post all on blogger.  I've had a very busy weekend.  Yesterday I volunteered at the Highland Rim Bicycle Race.  It was a last minute desision to work, but I'm really glad I did.  Cam & I drove a wheel truck & luckily our group only had 1 flat tire during the 54 mile loop up & down the mountain.  Hubby was driving the wheel truck for the Pro group who did the circuit twice!  These cyclist are insane!  After the race, I spent some quality time with one of my favorites & her babies!

Now I wish that the weekend wasn't over...  I dont' feel like I've had enough rest.

Nosey Neighbors

Tank: Loft
Pants: Old Navy
Sandals: Clarks
Necklace: Kohls
Purse: Kirklands (gift from MIL)

Trying something different today... I posed with my purse.  It was part of my birthday present from my in laws and I just switched it out over the weekend.  I love the color/print, but I'm not sure if it's going to take my purse abuse.  We'll see...

Today, the warmer weather interrupted my picture taking.  This afternoon my neighbors were all outside sitting on the front porch.... staring at me taking pictures.  It wouldn't be so terrible, except these are the neighbors that always want to come over and talk.   I've been open to my friends/family about having a style blog, it's just different having to explain to neighbors why I'm taking pictures of myself.  I just took a couple quick pictures & luckily made it back inside before they could come over to talk.

Finished my 1st Nook book tonight!  Woohoo :)

My new obsession

Tee: from Tara
Skirt: Delia's
Sandals: DSW
Necklaces: Aeropostale

I spent the afternoon cuddling with my nieces & by the time I could take pics, the sunshine had said goodnight.  I guess it worked out; the wall color compliments my skirt perfectly!

My husband has created a monster!  I have a bad feeling that him buying me a Nook for Mother's Day will be costing me in the long run.  I'm definitely going to have to limit my "browsing" on After today, I have 5 new books!!!  Some were free & the others were under $5 each, but they make it sooooo easy to buy books.  Only 2 clicks & they are mine!  They are geniuses!  I did only buy books that I could lend, so Sherry & I both will benefit from my obsession.  I really love it when I get into reading, so hopefully this will be a positive (as long as I keep my shopping under control).  I did create a wish list instead of making all of the purchases!

Currently, I'm up way too late watching the Grizzlies playoff game.  My parents are at the game, cheering them on.  Hopefully, they'll win tonight & put them up 3-1!
Go Grizz Go :)

Something Borrowed

Cardigan: Loft
Dress: Delia's
Belt: Thrifted
Heels: Goody's
Bracelet: Gift from Aunt

Last summer I started reading Love the One Your With by Emily Giffin and she had me hooked.  I read Something Borrowed next.  It's one of those, I shouldn't be loving this story as much as I should, and this is wrong, but I couldn't put the book down.  The book is awesome with a great ending & it comes with a sequel!  Sherry & I have had a date planned for a couple months now to go watch the Something Borrowed movie, because we both loved the book.  (She even re-read the book this past weekend! We are such nerds sometimes!!!)  The movie was just as great!!!  Probably one of the best book to movie movies that I'd ever seen.  We laughed so hard the entire movie... I'm ready to plan a girls night for the video release, so everyone else can see it!

I know it was just dinner & a movie, but what's a better time to get all dolled up?!  Just a couple of mom's treating themselves on Mother's Day weekend.  Everyone thinks girls just dress for other girls, so what's better than dressing up for your best friend!  It's also a good thing we took pictures before, because my hair was totally flat before the end of dinner!

For Mother's Day my hubby & kiddos gave me a Nook!  I'm so excited to start reading books instantly :)  My family is the greatest!  Also, I'd like to wish everyone a Happy Mother's Day... In particular my Mom & Mother In Law.  The are both wonderful people, Mothers & Grandparents!  I couldn't have asked for two more awesome woment to have in my life.  They mean the world to me.  I didn't get to see my mom today, but I know she had a great time watching her Memphis Grizzlies win last night & hope she enjoyed her Edible Arrangement :)

Happy friday & run on sentences

Tee: Gap
Pants: Delia's
Heels: Goody's
Necklace: Et Cetera

This is sort of a boring outfit, but a great easy grab (that doesn't involve my pink cardi or scarf) when I'm running late on a Friday morning... Really the only reason I took pictures today was because I liked my hair, even though it didn't photograph very well.

I have very oily hair & that doesn't go very well with long hair and bangs.  I've tried dry shampoo & that works well for my bangs for most of the day.  If I use it on the rest of my hair, it just feels dirty.  This morning I wore a shower cap & only washed my bangs.  That worked pretty well.  If left the rest of my hair a little dirty; perfect for holding a little curl!  Now if I can start remembering my shower cap while I'm half asleep!  It really did get me out the door a lot quicker this morning too!

American Idol night

L/S Tee & Jeans: Gap
S/S Tee: Loft
Sandals: DSW
Necklaces: Aeropostale

I know there's probably some rule that you have to stop layering t-shirts like after high school.  But I don't care!  The flowers are attached to the white tee & that makes it hard to remix.  I can't wear a cardigan without it getting all bulky, and short sleeves would have been too cold today.

Hubby & I are having an American Idol watching night.  So far so good.  I'm really happy with all the top contestants, except for the major fake crying performances tonight!!!  James said it himself, "I'm glad I was able to show the emotion at the right time!"  I really miss Simon.  His critics were always spot on & I don't trust these judges, they always say good things.  I love that they've have the same singing coach throughout the season.  I think that's really helped amp up the performances this season!  If I had to pick, my 2 favorites are Haley & Scotty!

Something totally awesome just happened.... my 13 year old just did the dishes withOUT being asked!!! Love it!

Two is better

Tee & Sweater: Target
Jeans: Express
Oxfords: DSW
Scarf: World Market & gift from Mom

The rain brought unseasonably cold weather, but the weather wasn't going to ruin my day.  I wanted something bright to wear & the yellow matched my favorite scarf.  I switched up the famous scarf by doubling it with pink leopard one that my Mom sent me for my birthday.  It added the extra coziness that I needed today.

My hair is definitely getting long... and heavy!  I didn't have very enough time this morning to dry my hair completely & it seemed like a waste of time anyways (because of the rain anyways).  The damp bun really has some weight to it.  It makes my head feel very heavy!

Does anyone ever forget that they like things in their closet?  This sweater is from last year & it got a lot of wear before.  So, I'm not sure what was holding me back from wearing this year.  I guess I kept looking over it because I thought it looked boxy.  I'm really not sure.  But after seeing the pictures, I think I was missing out.  I really like the way it turned out & since it's lightweight, I'll probably end up wearing it this summer to keep from freezing in the office!

Ruffles are a girls best friend

Cardigan & Tank: Gap
Jeans: Loft
Sandals: Madden Girl (DSW)
Belt: Delia's

More cuffed skinny jeans.  I'm branching out from my AE jeans.  I don't think I've worn these since my 30/30!  I didn't realize my clothes were this wrinkled.  I need to try drying these jeans, they are a little baggier than I like.  I like the dark tank with the dark jeans.  I guess I was in a navy mood this morning!  Another likeness is all the ruffles (cardi, tank & sandals).

I can't really focus...  I have a $10 off coupon for World Market that expires today, so I keep looking at the website.  I did some spring cleaning & redecorating this weekend, and I don't have it out of my system!  I have paint colors & decorative accents on my mind.  My spare bathroom is looking pretty awesome though!

I'm back...

Tee & Shorts: Loft
Sandals: Clarks (TJ Maxx)
Bracelet: gift from Dad

After a week of food poisoning/stomach virus, I finally felt up to taking pictures yesterday.  I've just been working & sleeping since Tuesday.  It's like a whole week just disappeared, except my house is a disaster!  FYI: getting sick & needing groceries are not a good combo!

I actually wore this outfit yesterday.  I went to watch a bunch 3 year olds play T-Ball & hang out with one of my besties.  It was adorable!  They don't really know whats going on except that all of them want the ball!  It was nice to get out for some fresh air & some girl time too.

My parents relocated to the Memphis TN area about 5 years ago.  They have always been sports people (mostly football), but now they've gotten into basketball.  They are Grizzlies fans, going to games all the time.  They took us to watch a game back in the fall.  This is the 1st year in franchise history for the Grizzlies to even win a playoff game & they beat the #1 seed in the 1st round.  Currently, we are watching them about to win game #1 in round 2!  It's very exciting.  They are a young team & are doing great!!!  So far my parents have been to all of the home playoff games.  Here are a few pictures from the Round 1 win!
