Tee: Loft
Jeans: JCPenney
Flats: Madden Girl (DSW)
Necklace: local boutique

This outfit was styled around this flower necklace that I bought over the weekend.  I met a friend from work & we did a little holiday shopping.  I took her to one of my favorite little places in town & then we went to the local craft fair.  The necklace was my only purchase.  I had lots of ideas on how to style it, but I kept coming back to the simple Tee.  I like how it really dresses it up.  I thought it was longer, but it'll do :)  Lindsay bought an adorable burlap wreath that she hung on an old shutter, making a pinterest inspired awesome living room arrangement.  I love it that we can do fun things outside of work!

Speaking of pinterest...  Today (with hubby's help this afternoon) I made buffalo chicken in the crock pot.  OMG!  It was delicious!  Hubs had been starving himself all afternoon smelling it that he hurriedly ate it as a sandwich.  I took it one step further and made buffalo chicken wraps for me & they were awesome too!  I'm sooooo overly stuffed it's not even funny.  Well hubs thinks it's funny; he's been laughing at me for the last hour!  Maybe I'm just trying to stretch my stomach for Thursday... Thanksgiving is seriously my favorite meal!  I can't wait for all the turkey!!!

Soooooo ready for the holidays!

Cardigan: Target
Tank & Boots: JCPenney
Jeans: AE

My Mom's in town & she came with new clothes... for me!  Well new shirt for me & it's perfect for the season.  I probably should have saved it for Thanksgiving, but I can be impatient with new clothes!  Plus it matched my new boots... that I've been wearing constantly since Saturday!

I'm not usually like this, but I'm sooooooooo ready for Christmas!  I want to decorate my house right now, watch Love Actually & listen to Christmas songs.  I have a no tree rule until December 1st in my house.  And I've never had a problem with it, until this year!  I'm jonesing really bad.  The catch is though, I'm not in a Christmas Shopping mood!  I know, I don't get it either.  The Black Friday sales aren't reeling me in as they do every year & I'm at a loss of ideas for gifts!  I guess that's why I need some holiday cheer to get the ball rolling.  I did buy a couple Christmas albums on Amazon today.  Hopefully, the The Waitresses song I just downloaded on iTunes will hold me over until they arrive.  And a funny cartoon to remind me what November is all about :)

Sweater dress again

Dress: At Last (consignment)
L/S Tee: Loft
Leggings: Miley Cyrus
Boots: DSW
Scraf: Gap

Black dress, tights & boots take 2.  I didn't realize until I was out the door that I wore a VERY similar outfit only two days ago!  Ooops.  At least I'm being an honest blogger & admitting my mistake.  Another thing I learned tonight is that I take better pictures when I take them myself vs hubby snapping them.  I purchased a new & awesome camera off for a super price last week.  The picture quality is great, but I felt like my smiles were lacking energy.  Apparetly, it was just my photographer.  Now I need to replace my broken tripod because I really don't want my new camera falling off the arm of the couch!

This dress was another super find while consigment shopping for the kiddos.  It was only $2!  It's a size too big, but pairing it with the scarf fixed the neckline.  I tried a belt, but all my matching belts are skinny & none of them looked right.

Now I'm going to watch the latest New Girl episode!  I just love that show & Zooey Deschanel.  She's awesome.  I love a good laugh :)

Tomorrow's Friday - Exciting weekend planned.  My parents are coming into town for Thanksgiving, my brother is buying a house & Breaking Dawn!  Can't wait!!!

Happy Hump Day

Cardigan: Old Navy (from MIL)
Tank: JCPenney
Jeans: AE
Boots: DSW
Belt: Loft

I found this tank a couple weeks ago for $2.97!!!  Really???  So I scooped it & a plaid one right up!  They have been so versitile.  Perfect additions to my closet at the perfect price.

Best part about today.  Getting a massage on my lunch break :)  Best Idea Ever.  I've been getting them weekly for the past couple months, but really if you've never had one, Book One Now!

Tee: Gap
Dress: Walmart (found at Consignment)
Leggings: Catos
Boots: Chinese Laundry (DSW)
Necklace: JCPenney

It's not really that noticeable in the pictures, but only the top of the dress is sweater.  The bottom is just a cotton knit.  I really like the combo.  I bought KB a similar dress but hers is sleeveless & gray.  Maybe it won't fit her & I'll end up styling it!

I'm not really that big on sharing clothes.  Ask my closest friends from growing up, I would never let them borrow my clothes.  I was always too picky about my things.  So I'm definitely not ready for a 14 year old to be rummaging through my closet.  But it has begun!  I was helping organize KB's room this weekend and I found: one of my pearl necklaces, my belt buckle belt, & a pair of my sunglasses.  She's moving in here next week to live full time, so I'm going to have to set some closet ground rules or just get over it.  I just don't think I'm ready to share my closet yet!!!

Denim on denim

Chambray: Consignment
Jeans: AE
Booties: Candie's (Kohl's)
Flower: Gap

While consignment shopping for the kids some winter clothes, I came across the perfect chambray shirt (at the perfect price of $2)!  My other chambray has 3/4 length sleeves & it a little too loose on me, and I had a hard time making the outfits that I wanted work.  But now... oh the possibilities, I can't wait!

These are also new booties.  The wedge is a little taller than I normally wear, so that will take some getting used to.  I wore them today (on a non-work day) to break in.  I really don't see them as a wear to work shoe, but they were perfect today for lunch out with the girls.  Impromptu friend gatherings are the best!  We try to get together regularly, but sometimes life just gets in the way.  Living with 2 boys, I'll take any girl time I can get!

brown, blue with a little orange

Sweater: JCPenney
Pants: Delia's
Oxfords: DSW
Necklace: my Grandma's
Headband: ?

This outfit was from Wednesday.  We had a work dinner Wednesday night & it took me a couple days to remember to upload!  This is one of my (many) new brown sweaters.  It was my 1st one to pick up & I've probably worn it 4-5 times already this month.  This just happens to be it's blog debut.

Ok, so I'm about the only one that "dresses up" at my work.  But to my surprise, since we had a motivational speaker dinner Wednesday night, everyone came in all dressed up... and then I was feeling WAY under dressed!  I had to run home & pickup hubby before the dinner, so I was brainstorming new outfits the entire way home.  I was drawing a blank, so I curled my hair a little before approaching my closet.  Then hubby walks in and says the sweetest thing... "Why are you going to change?  You already look great!"  He was so sincere & very convincing.  I did like the outfit, but I was competing (in my head) to be the best dressed.  But what I wear shouldn't be a competition & I'm glad I had hubby there to snap me out of that funk :)

My boss loved the bow in my hair, food was delicious, & the speaker was really great too!  He's a local coach that is now a motivational speaker.  And of course hubby & I had to act silly afterwards.  I got him to take a pic with the tour bus.  Good Times!

curly hair take 2

Tee: Loft
Sweater: Gabriel Brother's

As promised, I slept in my fishtail braid last night & tada: Curls/Waves!  It's really not that pretty when I first unbraided it, but with a couple twirls with the curling iron this is the finished result.  I wanted to snap a quick picture with my phone so I could go ahead & share my results this morning.

I'm wearing my new favorite brown sweater today :)  Just a simple outfit.  But simple is good for a Monday!  Now back to work.  Just wanted to show off my hair.

Sock bun curls - updated

Well blogger is not cooperating tonight & won't let me upload any pictures.  I'll update tomorrow once I have a finished product.  Tonight I was bored & browsing pinterest.  I found this tutorial for sock bun curls.  Looks simple enough.  Recently, I've been looking for new ideas to speed up my morning routine.  I've tried the headband method, but I usually braid my hair at night & then touch it up in the morning with a curling iron.  I'm really hoping the "sock bun" holds better, because I always end up using the curling iron.
Honestly, either way I like the look of the sock bun.  I'll have to try it out other than just wearing it to bed :)  I'll post pics tomorrow!
Photo updates:
Before bed with the completed sock bun

Morning after.  A little frizzy, but overall it stayed in place.

Volume deluxe!  I guess brushing my hair backwards before pulling it up really pumped up the volume!

My sad little curl :(  I was pretty bummed that it didn't work very well.  After seeing all the posts on pinterest & how easy the bun was to do, I had some high hopes!

I didn't use any extra curl products this time.  I plan on trying it again.  Just not tonight.  Today I wore a fishtail braid.  I'm going to sleep in it tonight & I should have a good base for some good curls tomorrow!

Currently Reading: Crossed

I've had my calendar marked for a couple months now anticipating this release of the sequel to "Matched".  I bought the last copy at my bookstore & picked up some Chinese takeout (because there was no way I was going to be able to cook & read?! or do outfit posts!).  I proceeded to read over half before calling it a night.  I can't wait to finish it up tonight!!!  I might even sneak in a few chapters during lunch :)  So far I love it!!! & if it's at least half as good at the #1, I'll be happy!

Halloween was a Hoot!

Halloween is seriously my favorite holiday.  (I guess maybe 2nd to Christmas, but who's favorite holiday isn't Christmas? It really trumps them all.  Anyways, enough Christmas talk, it'll be here before we know it.) Even though we weren't invited to a costume party, I still love to dress up.  And well make my own party.  I baked all day Sunday to have snacks for work & my favorite trick-or-treators!  I had a huge spread of yummies that I had saved on pinterest.  The biggest hit were the Apple Cider Cookies!  I found my Owl costume inspiration & tutorial on pinterest too...  I already had all the supplies & the time... I just couldn't resist.  I love how it turned out & the fleece was very warm.

Here are a few pics of my spooks:

Little brown sweater

Top: Forever 21
Sweater: Gabriel Brother's
Jeans: AE
Boots: Madden Girl (DSW)

I fell in love with this sweater vest last week & it HAD to come home with me.  Along with about 3 other brown sweaters that I have purchased on my last 2 shopping trips.  But really, how can you go wrong with brown?  And all of them are different.  Excuses I know, but I skipped a whole season of shopping & now there are cute sweaters everywhere!  I just couldn't resist.

I went consignment shopping yesterday afternoon to buy the kiddos some winter clothes.  I ended up finding stuff for everyone and only spent $24!  I bought myself a black sweater dress.  I was going to wear it today, but this brown sweater was calling my name this morning!  One of the buttons had fallen off earlier this week when I was orginally going to wear it & I sewed it back on last night.  So I couldn't wait any longer :)  I love it & can't wait to remix!

Wow 2 posts in one day...

I'm sort of a last starter to Pinterest, but I am offically addicted.  The best part is that I'm not only feeling inspired, but I'm actually doing projects.  The past couple weekends, I've done at least 1 Pinterest inspired project!  I haven't cooked any of the recipes, but I'm pretty sure that's just a matter of time... Time meaning, I need to go grocery shopping!

Here are a couple of my completed projects.  Both of them happen to be for my fireplace.  (and they were taken with my phone, so they aren't the best quality... I just wanted to share!)

This was a free project, because I already had these frames in storage.  Then I used scrapbook paper to spell out our last name.  The inspiration had the seasons spelled out, but I wanted to be able to leave it up longer.  I was going to paint the frames all the same color, but the mix worked out better.  I'll save the paint for when they need to be revamped!

I always buy tons of pumpkins & gourds in the fall, because they are cheap decorations and I get different ones each year.  The gourds usually just end up in a bowl on the table, but this year they filled my non-working fire place!  I usually just keep logs & candles in there.  I wished I would have bought more pumpkins, but I was being a picky pumpkin picker this year!

These aren't my only projects, but the ones that I just happened to have pictures of on my cell phone!  I also made my halloween costume too, but I'm saving that for next week!

Gray or Grey?

Top: Loft
Jeggings: Jones New York
Scarf: Apt 9 (Kohl's)
Boots: DSW
Bracelet: from Mom

I originally wasn't going to blog this outfit, because I thought all the gray & black was sort of blah.  But as the day went on, the outfit seemed to inspire confidence & a certain amount of sexiness.  Maybe it was the light zebra print on the jeggings or it is wearing my favorite OTK boots for the 2nd time of the season... I'm really not 100% sure, but I really had to share.

By the way, my hair is getting SUPER long & I'm really digging the loose curls.  I've watched a couple hair tutorials, but braiding it before bed & touching it up with a curling iron in the morning seems to work the best for me!

Take me home, Country roads

Cardigan: Loft
Top: Ross
Pants: Delia's
Scarf: cute little shop in Athens, OH
Purse: mondani (from Gabriel Brother's)
Oxfords: DSW

Hi blogger world!  I've been hiding for a while, but Sherry inspired me today & I thought I'd say hi.  Plus I went shopping this weekend after a several month hiatis.  Over the weekend we went to West Virginia to visit hubby's family.  It was a long overdue visit & we had a wonderful time.  Especially the shopping part!  My mother in law took me to the Coldwater Creek Clearance store and I came away empty handed.  Even though I love shopping at stores like the Loft, the Coldwater Creek clothes weren't really speaking to me.  I guess I'm not as "grown up" as I thought!

The next day, KB & I ventured out on our own to Gabriel Brother's.  I LOVE Gabe's!  We spent over 2 hours in there.  I about died when they had J Brand Jeans for $20!!!!  but unfortunately I couldn't find any of them to fit, but I did find a pair of Jones New York jeggings for $7 that were perfect!  It's been about 3 years since I'd been to a Gabe's & I made up for it!  I found this purse for $20 and even though it's a little on the big size for me, I really love the boxiness of it.  Now I have to make sure I don't over weight it, just because I have the room.

On Saturday, I met up with a friend from elementary school that was randomly working in Columbus.  We met half way in Athens, OH to have lunch & catch up.  Athens is a super cute little college hipster town.  We had a great lunch at Bodega, walked around downtown, browsed some hippie shops, and spent the afternoon upstairs at Donkey Coffee playing "Would You Rather"!  I'm not sure if it was the fall weather or all the fall colors, but Athen's sure put a little spell on me.  I was a slacker & didn't pull out my camera... I think maybe because I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to capture it just right.

Hopefully this won't be my last post for a while... I've really missed you guys.  Plus I want to show off some of my pinterest projects!!!  I might not have been shopping the past few months, but I've kept busy!

Plain white t

Tee: Loft
Shorts: Target
Sandals: Madden Girl (DSW)
Necklace: Et Cetera

Sometimes, the simplest outfits are the way to go.  I wasn't going to post this, but the lighting outside was to awesome to pass on taking pictures.  There was a storm coming in right at sunset & it made the best lighting!

Several bloggers have posted recently about remixing the plain white T.  I just went simple today.  I've had this necklace for probably a year & I wear it at least once a week.  Everyone I know has seen it, but I got a ton of compliments on it today!  I guess having the white T as a backdrop, really showed off the necklace.

Just what the dr ordered

Top: Ann Taylor Outlet
Skirt: Target
Sandals: Clarks
Belt: Thrifted

This is probably my favorite skirt in my closet.  I bought it a couple years ago with a matching orange top & I thought of it the only outfit.  Since starting blogging I've forced myself to take a closer look, and I've successfully remixed this skirt several times.  I've labeled all the entries "orange skirt".  What do you guys think?  I'm kind of partial to this one.  I really like the blue top.  I think it tones down the brightness of the print in the skirt.  Maybe I just like this one because it's a nice break from all the pants I've been wearing.

I've recently starting having a lot of pain in my lower back & hips, so I've starting seeing a new chiropractor!  When I was 12, I was diagnosed with scoliosis.  (Defined: my spine is curved).  As a kid it really didn't bother me & I went to a specialist every 6 months so that they could monitor it.  I never really thought it was a big deal.  Well apparently it is a pretty big deal.  My lower spine has a 42 degree curve & my upper back is 33 degree.  My spine is basically in the shape of a 'S' & my hips are out of alignment.  Looking at those x-rays I was really blown away.  I've seen x-rays of my back before, but when she explained them to me the realities of it really set in... I knew my hips didn't line up my shoulders, but I didn't know it could cause lung deterioration, spinal cord issues, etc.  But I've decided to be proactive about it.  My chiro is working on my alignment twice a week, I'm getting weekly massages (dr's orders!), and I'm working on building up my postural muscles.  I really want to be able walk in 10 years.

FYI: Getting a massage on my lunch break on Friday ruins my productivity for the rest of the day!  But honestly, I don't really care.  They are that awesome!  What took me so long to discover their awesomeness???

EBEW: Yellow

Tee & Pants: Loft
Sandals: Clarks (DSW)
Necklace: World Market

Yesterday, I randomly noticed that it was already EBEW linkup day.  Thankfully I remembered again this morning.  Yellow is a relatively new color to my closet.  I don't really gravitate to yellow when shopping or dressing.  But I don't have anything against the color; it's just not my 1st choice.  Since starting this blog (over 6 months ago! woohoo!)  I have branched more while shopping.  I've made 3-4 yellow purchases & they've all worked great!  The color really compliments my complexion & I've been really happy with my choices.  My favorite is my yellow & pink scarf.  I bought it late in "scarf" season, but I already got a ton of use out it.  I didn't wear it today, even though I was tempted, because it's just toooo hot in Tennessee.

Below is my tribute to YELLOW:

Back to the daily grind

Tank: Ross
Cropped Jeans: AE
Sandals: Madden Girl (DSW)
Sunglasses: Calvin Klein (Marshalls)

Back from vacation, can you tell by tan?  I was very careful not to get sun burnt.  I used lots of sunscreen & did most of my beach reading under an umbrella.  I bought the cutest matching chair & umbrella from World Market a month ago.  They worked great!

While one vacation, we went to Destin shopping one day.  The only thing I bought (for myself) were these cropped jeans.  They are made very similar to my AE jeans that I over wear, so they are perfect.  And it'll keep me from over fading my skinnies!  I promise, I'll try to branch out with my outfits.

Last night I couldn't sleep.  It was so weird, like I was nervous for the 1st day of school, but really it was just going back to work after being off for 9 days.  My desk wasn't a complete mess & even though I had to work a little over to finish catching up, it wasn't too overwhelming.  I guess I lost sleep for nothing!

While I've been away...

We took a vacation.  It was wonderful to have a full week off work.  I didn't have to worry about being on call or answering the phone all day.  It was so relaxing!  The past couple years, we've taken a family vacation, but this year we tried some place new.  We spent a week on the beach at Navarre Beach, FL.  "Florida's Best Kept Secret"  It's basically on an island between Destin & Pensacola Beach.  We picked a perfect spot!

The water was so clear.  We snorkled a lot & found a ton of shells.

I spent the majority of the week with my toes in the sand & my head in a book.  I finished 6 books!  I was afraid to carry my Nook to the beach, so I busted out some real live paperbacks.  I read, the 1-4 of the Pretty Little Liars Series by Sara Shepard, To Have & to Hold by Jane Green, & The Island by Elin Hilderbrand.  I enjoyed all of them & I've already ordered the next 4 Pretty Little Liars books from BN.com :)

Our vacation crew included my family of 4, my brother & wife, 3 neices & my parents.  I busted out my handy dandy tripod to take our group shot :)

It was back to the grind at work today, but the week off was WONDERFUL.  I'm already marking the calendar for my next time off... I think I got a little spoiled.
